Shift2DC researchers Andrii Chub (Taltech), Salvador Ceballos (Tecnalia), John Thome (JJ Cooling), Hugo Morais (INESC-ID I Instituto Superior Técnico) and Lucas Pereira (ITI I Técnico) have been ranked among the world’s leading scientists, according to the 2024 edition of “Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists”.

The American ranking is based on citation metrics extracted from Elsevier’s Scopus database, with data updated until the end of 2023 and has two distinct lists: Single-Year 2023 Performance and Career-Long Performance.

In this year’s edition Andrii Chub and Lucas Pereira have been listed in the yearly ranking; John Thome in the Career ranking; and Salvador Ceballos and Hugo Morais on both lists.

As a senior researcher in the Power Electronics Group, Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics, Tallinn University of Technology (Taltech), Andrii Chub is leading Shift2DC WP4 that aims to test DC Solutions developed in previous Work packages, in real Demonstration sites and Field-tests.

Salvador Ceballos is a researcher in TECNALIA’s Smart Grids and Energy Storage department and the Institution will lead the development of fast-response component-level control techniques for power electronics interfaced distributed energy resources in DC grids.

John Thome is currently the Technical Director of JJ Cooling Innovation in Switzerland, Shift2DC project partner focused on developing micro-two-phase cooling technologies for the electronics market.

Hugo Morais is a senior researcher and Shift2DC coordinator at the Portuguese R&D Institute INESC-ID, and an Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.

Lucas Pereira is an Assistant Researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico and researcher at the Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI) that will coordinate the Portuguese demonstrator in Funchal, Madeira, focused on studying DC’s role in the electrification of Ports worldwide.
