The Shift2DC project was represented at this year’s BRIDGE General Assembly, held in Brussels on March 25–26, with the participation of Ana Rita Nunes, Project Manager at INESC ID. This is the second project’s participation at the BRIDGE General Assembly since its launch in 2023. BRIDGE is a European Commission initiative that brings together projects from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, focusing on smart energy systems – particularly in the areas of Smart Grids, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalization.
The BRIDGE General Assembly brought together over 80 participants, including key stakeholders from European energy projects, for a two-day event dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across the energy sector.
The first day centered on key insights, featuring an overview of 2024 achievements presented by the chairs of the BRIDGE Working Groups. This was followed by the presentation of the paper “Bridging the Gap from Innovation to Market” and sessions exploring how to overcome barriers to innovation implementation, unlock EU funding opportunities, and turn ideas into concrete investments.
The second day focused on working together and planning for the future. It opened with a presentation on the Cluster Data Spaces, then participants were split into four parallel sessions according to their respective Working Groups. A plenary session followed, where outcomes from each breakout discussion were shared, along with a Q&A. The event concluded with final remarks and a look ahead to the next steps in BRIDGE’s collective work.
The two-day agenda showed BRIDGE’s effort to turn innovation into real impact across Europe’s energy sector. Shift2DC participation provided a great opportunity to contribute to this goal while connecting with fellow European projects and laying the groundwork for future collaborations.

In addition to the BRIDGE General Assembly, Shift2DC is actively involved in other BRIDGE activities, including participation in its working groups on Data Management, Regulation, Consumer and Citizen Engagement, and Business Models.
